On November 11, 1962, employees of Reynolds Metals, Inc.
established Reymet Federal Credit Union. In the
beginning, the credit union actually did business from
the trunk of a car. Only savings accounts and a very few
loans were processed at that time.
In November 1971, the credit union moved
into a trailer at the Reynolds Metals Extrusion Plant at
1901 Reymet Road. In September 1981, a branch office was
opened in the Reynolds GOB office on West Broad Street.
In October 1982, the credit union added a new trailer to
accommodate the increase in accounts and employees.
In May 1987, the construction of our own
building was completed and we moved in at 2124 Reymet
Road. From only having a few loans and savings
accounts in 1962, we have evolved into a full service
credit union with multiple share accounts, loans and
many other financial services available to our members.
In 1999 the Reynolds family sold their company to
various businesses. In 2002 the Reymet Board of
Directors decided to seek a community charter to make it
easier for the credit union to grow and prosper. In
2003 the National Credit Union Administration approved
the charter change, making anyone who lives, works,
worships, or attends school in Chesterfield County
Virginia eligible to join the credit union. Shortly
thereafter the Board approved a name change adding the
word “community” to our name.
In November 2004 we opened a full service branch inside
the Wal-Mart Supercenter on Hull Street Road just east
of Route 288.
